Environmental Advisory Council
The Environmental Advisory Council was created November 15, 2006 by the Amity Township Board of
Supervisors. The purpose of the EAC is to develop and recommend to the Board an environmental policy to
guide Township actions which involve environmental issues; to advise the Board on environmental issues
referred to it for review; hear and review complaints and concerns from the public on environmental matters and
recommend actions to be taken by the Board where appropriate; to educate the Board and the community on
environmental issues and make recommendations on environmental matters to the Board.
Mission Statement
The Amity Township Environmental Advisory council (EAC) serves as an advisory role
to the Township Manager, Supervisors and citizens. The EAC seeks to foster and
promote environmental initiatives and improve the environmental welfare of Amity
Township. Our purpose is to provide leadership in objectively reviewing environmental
issues and provide guidance regarding environmental matters concerning Amity
Township and the region. the EAC will champion the growth of an environmentally
sustainable community by recommending plans and programs that promote natural
resource conservation and inventories; identifying environmental impacts for
consideration by Amity Township in its decision-making process; and providing
environmental education to the residents of Amity Township.
The EAC is composed of five voting members, chosen to serve three year staggered terms and
appointed by a majority vote of the Board. These members shall reflect the geographic,
demographic, and technical and non-technical backgrounds of the citizens of the Township.
Members shall be selected from the Township at large.
The monthly meetings of the EAC are held at 7:00PM at the Township Building at 2004
Weavertown Road, Douglassville, PA 19518 on the second Monday of the month. All meetings
are open to the public.
